Salt Lake City, UT - The American Red Cross Blood Services Region has recently been selected by Intermountain Health Care as the blood services supplier for the new Park City Medical Center.
“Intermountain Healthcare is our largest customer in Utah,” said David Jessop, accounts manager for the Red Cross Blood Services Region. “We currently provide blood products for 19 Intermountain Healthcare hospitals in the state so it is fitting that they would choose the Red Cross to supply blood for the new Snyderville area hospital.”
In Utah, someone needs blood every eight minutes. That means the Red Cross must collect about 440 units every day to supply its 33 Utah hospitals.
As the steward of half the nation’s blood supply, the Red Cross considers safe and constant availability of blood one of its highest priorities. The organization must collect, screen, process, test, transport, and monitor approximately 22,000 blood donations daily.
