On February 11, all three American Red Cross chapters in Utah and the Lewis and Clark Blood Services Region, participated in the second annual “Day-on-the-Hill” public relations activity at the Utah State Capitol. The event is designed to help create awareness of the programs and services the Red Cross provides to our communities.
A series of displays were set up in a circle in the center of the capitol’s rotunda. The displays represented all aspects of American Red Cross services: blood collection, emergency preparedness, disaster response, health and safety training, and Armed Forces emergency services.
This year, the Red Cross had the opportunity to thank legislators for passing House Bill 31 which protects “Good Samaritans” from litigation and encourages the public to participate in training that will qualify them to help in emergencies. At least 40 of the legislators were personally thanked by Red Cross employees and volunteers during the three-hour exhibit.
