Thanks For Giving

Lewis and Clark Region — This month, several Thanksgiving blood drives will take place at donor centers throughout Utah, Idaho and Montana. These special drives give donors a chance to start the season off right by giving blood at the American Red Cross.

“The demand for blood remains constant during the holiday season. Our donors’ lives also become more hectic during this time of year making it more difficult for them to find time to donate blood,” said Julia Wulf, CEO of the local Red Cross Blood Services Region. “The holiday drives help us meet patient needs while providing a great opportunity for our donors to come in during these fun events.”

Utah

In Utah, on Wednesday, November 26, KFAN 1320 AM and KJZZ-TV will sponsor a blood drive at the Salt Lake Donor Center on 6616 South 900 East in Salt Lake City between 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM.  All presenting donors that day will be entered to win turkeys, gift certificates and Utah Jazz tickets.

There will also be another holiday drive with drawings and prizes on Friday, November 28 between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The Salt Lake Donor Center will serve as a drop-off location for the Utah Food Bank where donors can give cans of non-perishable food to help feed those in need this holiday season.

Idaho

In Idaho, Red Cross staff will serve delicious pumpkin pie to all presenting donors. Each donor center throughout the state will also give out special Holiday Hero pins. On select days, pie will be served to all presenting donors at Idaho donor centers.
